Bay Developments 30 Years and Beyond

Potato Digital designed the 30th anniversary identity for Bay Developments Ltd., a high-end residential developer in Dhaka, and handed it over in June 2025. The mark builds the numeral 30 out of isometric towers rather than drawing it, and that single construction rule carried the identity across print, social and outdoor.

Why Bay Developments needed more than an anniversary badge

Bay Developments Ltd. reached its 30th year in 2025 as an established name in Dhaka’s high-end residential market, with a brand positioned around the line “curating the art of life”. The anniversary needed marking. The property category’s default answer to that is a gold numeral, a ribbon, and a badge parked in the corner of existing artwork until the year is over.

Potato Digital read the brief as a rejection of that default: mark three decades without a tired gold balloon in sight. A commemorative badge would have been additive, applied on top of Bay Developments’ communications and peeled off afterwards. The brief pointed at something harder, a mark that said what the company had actually spent thirty years doing, which is putting buildings into the Dhaka skyline.

How Potato Digital built the mark

One question ran across every exploration route: can the number be built rather than drawn? Potato Digital worked up four moodboard directions before committing to one. Anniversary numerals treated as the hero. Isometric building shapes. A greyscale cityscape with the numeral picked out in colour. A pixel and line-art skyline.

The isometric route won because it answered the question literally. The numeral could not sit flat on the page, so it had to stand up like one of Bay Developments’ own buildings. Arafat Islam started by hand on isometric grid paper, working out where tower silhouettes could resolve into a readable 3 and 0 without either digit collapsing into decoration.

Construction moved into Adobe Illustrator on a 30 degree isometric grid, the same angle convention an architectural floorplan uses. Three rounds followed before the tower cluster read cleanly as a 30 at normal viewing distance. Potato Digital produced three configurations at that stage, ranging from dense to minimal, and the balanced version was selected for rollout.

Delivered to Bay Developments Ltd.:

  • 1 anniversary logomark constructed from an isometric tower cluster
  • 4 moodboard routes explored before the direction was locked
  • 3 Illustrator rounds, resolving to 3 final tower configurations
  • 1 key visual on deep blue, used as the hero lockup
  • 1 Facebook cover and page asset set
  • 1 magazine print spread
  • 3 outdoor placements: two illuminated wall installations and one street-side hoarding

Results
  • 4 media carried the identity after handover: social, magazine print, illuminated signage and street hoarding
  • 3 outdoor placements installed and photographed in situ across Dhaka
  • 1 construction rule holding the numeral readable from a social avatar crop to a multi-storey hoarding

Bay Developments Ltd. received a finished identity system rather than a decoration with a shelf life. The same tower cluster survives being cropped to a social avatar, printed across a magazine gutter, and lit at building scale on a Dhaka street, and the 30 stays legible at every one of those sizes. That range is what an identity built on a construction rule buys, and what a drawn numeral would not have given Bay Developments.

Bay Developments' anniversary numeral is not typography. The 30 is a cluster of isometric towers, drawn on the same grid angle an architect uses for a floorplan.

Bay Developments Ltd. now holds an anniversary mark that describes the business rather than decorating it. The rule behind the 30, towers built on an architect’s grid, is reusable: the same logic extends to a future milestone without redrawing the idea from scratch. Potato Digital handed the system over in June 2025.

Frequently asked questions

Who designed the Bay Developments 30th anniversary identity?

Potato Digital, an advertising and design agency in Gulshan-1, Dhaka, designed the Bay Developments 30 Years and Beyond identity and handed it over on 11 June 2025. Art direction and illustration were led by Arafat Islam. Bay Developments Ltd. rolled the mark out across its own channels after handover.

How is the number 30 formed in the Bay Developments anniversary logo?

The numeral is neither typed nor drawn. Potato Digital modelled a cluster of isometric towers whose rooflines and negative space resolve into a 3 and a 0 when the mark is read straight on, constructed throughout on a 30 degree grid rather than a typographic baseline.

Where did the Bay Developments 30 Years identity appear?

The identity ran across four media in Dhaka: a Facebook cover and page asset set, a magazine print spread, two illuminated wall installations, and one street-side hoarding. The same tower construction was used at every size, from social crop to building scale.
